The map above shows Africa south of the equator. The countries are Angola (Ang), Botswana (Bot), Burundi (B), Congo (Con), Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Gabon (Gab), Kenya (Ken), Lesotho (L), Madagascar (Mad), Malawi (Mal), Mozambique (Moz), Namibia (N), Ruanda (R), Somalia (S), South Africa (SA), Swaziland (Sw), Tanzania (Tan), Uganda (U), Zambia (Zam) and Zimbabwe (Zim).
Most of the currently active science centres who are members of SAASTEC are located in South Africa. Botswana now has a science centre at BOTEC, and Namibia is actively pursuing plans for science centres.
The nine South African provinces are demarcated on the map above. They are: Eastern Cape (EC), Free State (FS), Gauteng (G), Kwazulu-Natal (KN), Limpopo (L), Mpumulanga (M), Northern Cape (NC), North West (NW) and Western Cape (WC).
The province in which each science centre in South Africa is located is noted in the list below and their positions are shown by red dots on the map above.
Recently, SAASTEC was priviledged to have Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre in Mauritius join.
